The Greatness of Our God

Isaiah 40 — The Greatness of Our God

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” — Isaiah 40:1

Isaiah 40 invites us to lift our eyes from the size of our circumstances and behold the greatness of our God.

In this beautiful chapter, we encounter the God who measures the waters in the hollow of His hand and spans the heavens, yet tenderly gathers His lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. We see the prophetic voice preparing the way for the coming of the Lord, the unchanging certainty of God's Word, His absolute authority over nations and creation, and His tender care for those who have grown weary.

Isaiah asks us to consider: Who can be compared to Him?

The same God who created the stars and calls every one of them by name sees His people, knows their weariness, and has not forgotten them. And when our own strength is exhausted, He promises something remarkable:

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles...” — Isaiah 40:31

This illustrated study explores the depth of Isaiah 40 and the extraordinary picture it gives us of God's power, His faithfulness, His tenderness, and His unfailing strength.

Come and behold your God.
